Alternative to 6-month diet or am I misreading???

I have Aetna and do not have 6 months of documentation.  I believed that each of my diet plans would work (yeah, I really thought Atkins would get me in shape) BUT in reading their latest policy bulletin it would appear that you can do the 6-month OR a 3-month "multi-disciplinary surgical preparatory regimen" that, from its description, would in fact improve post surgical outcome... Has anyone else seen this and applied to Aetna with this instead of the 6-month? Thanks

Hello, I am also trying to figure out this 3 month multidisciplinary thing.  Before I even went to the bariatric info session, I called Aetna to see if I was covered.  The member benefit rep didn't really understand the requirements.  They are confusing!  So she transferred me to the actual nurse at Aetna who approves/denies the auths for employess of my company.   She is the one who suggested to do this 3 month thing instead of the 6 month. My baratric clinic said they were a multidisciplinary clinic, but then I found out I have to schedule all of my appts with the psych and nut myself.  They just gave me what the clearances are and told me it's my responsibility to get them done before I even have my initial consult with the doctor.    So now I am really confused!  I'm going to call my nurse at Aetna again and ask her what the actual requirements are tomorrow.  I will let you know what I find out.   You could also call the Aetna member benefits line and ask the rep to transfer you to the nurse that handles the auths for your company.  I think it is actually a great thing to talk to her/him before they see you paper work come across their desk.

Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow.  It'll be a headache getting all that together, but if it saves three months that's fine by me.
