Good afternoon people.

Does anyone out there know if Mutual of Omaha covers wls in the state of Texas? I tried back in 2003 to get approval of wls, I sent in letter of medical necesity and they said no.  First, they used the excuse that my employer didn't pay for that type of coverage but after going to Human Resources, they said they would make an exception for me and they even submitted my paperwork to Mutual, but they still said no.  I spoke with lady from Mutual and she said that it was something federal about it? Not sure what she meant, I told her i was going to file suit against them because they partially covered bulimia and aneroxia but NOT morbid obesity? She told me to go ahead and good luck.  Of course I didn't because I don't have the money for that and I havent tried since then.  I apologize if this got long, I appreciate the time anyone takes to reply. Best bet.  Don't rely on what anyone else had or says to you.  You need to see it in writing.  You'll get conflicting information verbally. Also, since it is self funded, if you find someone in your company who they have made an exception for, email me, I can send you a federal case which basically says that when they make an exception for one they have to do it for all. You can also look around in this forum on the right side insurance by state.  You should be able to find your carrier. Best of luck Gary
