I heard that Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas has gone from the 5 year documentation of being on a diet to 6 months. Could it be true?

I have BCBS of TX and i only did 6mos of dr supervised diet and was approved.  My BMI is 42 and I have no co-morbidities.  It also only took them a week to approve me.

What documentation did you give them for the six month's dr supervised diet?  If it was dr's notes, do you know what they said?

My 6 mos. of dr. supervised weight loss consisted of me going into the office once a month where they weighed me, took my blood pressure and my temp and that's all.  I never even saw the dr or his PA 4x out of the 6mos.  I have no idea what they put on my file.  THe times that I did see them they just asked if I was doing anything different to lose weight.  I might mention reducing portion size or nothing at all.  Whatever they wrote down worked.

Have you had your surgery yet? If so how was your doctor?
