Anyone with BCBS Federal?

Hi All, I have a BMI of 39.  Will BCBS Federal cover VSG?

I do not have BCBS Federal we have Highmark BCBS so I am sure there are some differences. I would recommend calling the insurance company and having them send you their blurb on WLS. Ours is very specific on what it will cover.....ie, no on the VSG (considered expermental) and BMI of 39 works if you have co-morbs, but does not if you do not have co-morbs. Each company is different, but the gold standard seems to be BMI of 40 or BMI of 35-39 with 2 co-morbs. Our BCBS also requires a 6 month physician superviced diet. Good luck.
