exclusion

I had wls on oct 19th, but my mom is interested and her insurance states it's excluded Is there anything we can do or is this black and white and nothing we do will change their minds?

Hello Britney. It depends on how the exclusion is stated.   Does your exclusion specifically mention surgery even if it is medically necessary? At my last employer, surgery was clearly excluded and Gary (the attorney who posts on this forum) said exclusions in my state of Florida were hard to fight.  So, I started looking and found another job.  Luckily my new employer's health insurance pays for surgery.  I submitted my insurance request for surgery last week. It's black and white! If the benefit language states that 'Morbid Obesity Surgery is an Exclusion'...then it really doesn't matter how obese someone is or how many co-morbidities they have, the employers chose to not cover/pay for it. Sorry! You can always pay cash.....Get a loan, this is what I had to do... :-) or get another job where the employer does cover it. Good Luck!
