I'm just looking for some opinions here..I'm looking at exclusions on a insurance plan and this is what it says
"For any treatment or regimen, medical or surgical, for the purpose of reducing or controlling the weight of a member or for treatment of obesity, except for surgical treatment of morbid obesity"
Can anyone tell me what this might mean. This insurance stuff is sooooo confusing and I know just one little word can make all the difference, in being covered or not being covered. I'm just curious to see what others get out of that statement.
Thanks
Donna

There wasn't a whole lot but this is it. For any treatment or regimen, medical or surgical, for the purpose of reducing or controlling the weight of a member or for treatment of obesity, except for surgical treatment of morbid obesity
I think they just like to make things more complicated than they really have to be. CRAZY!
Actually it says it is not covered..."except for surgical treatment of morbid obesity."
This means it is covered if you are morbidly obese!
As I mentioned before my policy reads very similar-and I am covered because I am 'morbidly obese". I did have a few hoops to jump through-such as a three month physician supervised plan, etc. But the important word is 'Except".
Best of luck-and let me know how it turns out, LR
