Plastic surgery and BCBS of TX

Hi everryone! I have some questions and hope someone can help me navigate through this! I saw a plastic surgeon for a consult last week. I have a rash under my tummy from the weight loss, all the prescribed creams, etc have not worked.  The surgeon charges the same for a panniculectomy as for a full tummy tuck (abdomoinplasty). BCBS told me they will not pay for the abdominoplasty, possibly the panni if I can prove medical necessity. I can prove the necessity, it will just take some time. Anyone know how I can get the abdominoplasty covered? I do not understand, especially since it costs the same. The hospital will not submit it under panniculectomy but do a TT, because that is illegal. I do have muscle damage from pregnancy (no c-section though) and all the excess weight. I can also get a letter from the chiropractor about my chronic back pain. Would all this be worth it? Or am I beating a dead horse? I am not persuing this for vanity reasons, and I do not know how to get BCBS to understand this. My doc needs to do two huge incisions to get rid of the skin, one vertically and one horizontally. I will have massive scarring. It seems as though I am being treated as if I am some self absorbed model who does not like her flat size 0 body and wants to be size negative 2! I just want to get rid of the rash and back pain! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Bonnie
