CIGNA PPO

I was approved on 12/29 by Cigna and had WLS on 1/19/2007, YIPEE!!! My question is I have started to get bills from the hospital saying that they expect no more payment from CIGNA and the balances due are very high.  I know I have to call the insurance company but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with CIGNA.  I read my policy and talked to them many times and my understanding was that there would be some amount due, but not thousands of dollars.   Any help would be appreciated.

The same way CIGNA made me jump through hoops is the way they made my hospital jump. The hospital submitted all the information prior to surgery but had to resubmit the SAME information afterward to justify even through the surgery was preapproved. Get on the phone with CIGNA and the hospital at the same time and make them speak with each other. Otherwise this can go on for months and the hospital and put your account into collection. Also CIGNA has a patient advocate. As for one to be assigned and then have him/her work on your behalf to get this resolved. It took my surgeon nearly 4 months before he was paid.
