thyroid issues

I have an underactive thyroid disorder and am on daily medicine. However, I have not lost weight, but gained at a fast rate since getting on medicine, although I don't think that has caused me to gain, but has not helped me lose.  My question is: is this disorder considered a comorbidity (sp) for insurance purposes. I have UHC from T-mobile and can't find much on their website about WLS. I need to get a Plan Summary from HR.

Hi, I too have hypothyroidism. When I check with the weight loss surgeon I was told that it is NOT a comorbidity for insurance purposes... Janey

I also have hypothyroidism and it is also my understanding that it is not a comorbidity for insurance purposes.  It is not something that will be changed (not even a little bit) because of the surgery. Surgery or not we will still be hypo-...
