Am considering getting this insurance since they do cover WLS.  Would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone who has them as their insurance providers and what their experience was like to get them to cover their bariatric surgery. Not sure how it works since i already have insurance with ODS thru my work but since ODS doesn't cover WLS I am hoping if I get insurance thru PacificCare WA for 6-8 months then I can get the surgery. HOpefully they won't bill it as a secondary insurance tho?

Thanks for that info. I called Pacific Care WA and unfortunately, despite being told otherwise earlier from them, it appears they do NOT offer individual plans in my state of residence, Washington. ARgh. So I need to find an insurance company that covers this surgery for a resident in Vancouver, Washington (Clark County). I know the surgeon I want to use (highly recommended by my phys. therapist who is a post op success story) so I've just got to find a way to get coverage and jump through the hoops. I suffer from sleep apnea and have a c-pap for that, have suffered from acid reflux for about 5-6 years and weight 305 lbs and am 5'6. I have other health problems and am currently recuperating from a hip surgery and suffer knee and feet problems due to my weight and have also had a breast reduction surgery. I've seen a doctor pretty regularly over the past 3 years or so and my weight and trouble and attempts at various dieting have been discussed in those meetings (altho he's not my Primary Care doctor) but it was not a followed dieting plan so I assume that is something I would have to do. I take nexium every day for the reflux after having the typical barrage of tests done to determine what it is. I'm at my wits end. I don't know what to do. We're prepared to try and scrape the money together to pay for individ. insurance but it's hard to know where to turn to.
