Hi Everyone, I am 350lbs BMI of 50.5 with no co-morbidities.      Is it harder to get approved ?? I am a medicare via Humana patient.  My insurance company said if BMI is over 40 NO co-morbidies are needed.  But i wonder if the insurance company will say.. "hey she is not really sick yet we can wait a while." Any thoughts. Michele

Michele - i too am about your weight and don't have diabetes, but i sure have:  joint pain, high cholesterol (ok its 240 but technically that is high range) , incontingence (sometimes) and heartburn (sometimes), and shortness of breath (when i climb stairs).  Also we're definitely at risk to develop diabetes and heart disease just becuase of the weight....   just think in terms of ny difficulties you face because of your weight, not in terms of 'official' comorbidities. good luck- Stefanie
