Does anyone know if Medicare will pay for plastic surgery after weight loss surgery?  I am seeing my surgeon on 3/16 and hope to get a date for my surgery (I have to wait until school is out this semester) and I wil ask him, however, I am curious if anyone else has gotten Medicare to pay for plastic surgery after the huge weight loss.  Many thanks and blessings to all.

If there are rashes and infections in the folds of the skin that are documented by ur doctor including, treatments and pictures of the infections or rashes I have heard some have been able to get Medicare to pay...

Just a lil note to warn all pre and post ops. GET YOUR PROTEIN IN EVERYDAY!!!  I have done rather crappy with mine since day 1 and I am paying dearly with VERY slow weight loss, major hair loss, and all out feelin like shit!  PLEASE!!!!  Follow your program's rules!!

I have also heard the same thing.  I was told by my surgeon to document all rashes and skin problems with my primary Dr, and to make sure I get pictures of it all for my records.

The doctor is Dr. Terry McCurry and he is with the University of Louisville Plastic Surgery.  Phone number is (502) 583-8303 and the web site is U of L Plastics.com.

They do accept Medicare, however, you have to have documentation from you doctor about how the loose skin or hanging breasts causes skin rashes in order for them to submit to Medicare.

He is a wonderful doctor.

Good luck!
