Insurance advice

I put a message out there a while back asking about insurance when changing jobs. Well I went from Aetna to United Healthcare. I have paid a lot of out of pocket money so far. The sleep study and Sleep Apnea equipment alone has cost over $1,000. I paid my surgeon $100 up front just for the consultation. I paid my Primary Dr almost $500 out of pocket for my 6 month diet. I got my insurance packet from UHC and the only exclusion that was in my packet that had anything to do with weight loss was something that said they will not cover diet or weight loss programs, which to me has nothing to do with weight loss surgery. I signed up for the PPO and sent my HR department an email telling them that I was in the process of having Lap  Band surgery when I left my other job and wanted to make sure that our insurance will cover it. Well I got an email back stating that our insurance has an exclusion in it for weight loss surgery of any kind. She sent me an attachment with about 20 different exclusions that were not on the origional packet that I read and signed. I am just at a loss now as to what to do. Do I really have any chance whatsoever? I just feel like giving up after wanting something and working so hard at it for the past 4 months.

Consultation with surgeon scheduled for October 9. Getting closer.....

Hi. I don't know if this will hel*****t, but does the wording say that it will not cover treatment of obesity except for morbid obesity or is morbid obesity even mentioned? My sister in law has UHC and I believe her policy says it won't cover it except for treatment of morbid obesity. Her BMI qualified her. She had surgery yesterday. Other than that I hope someone else has more advice for  you. Good luck with it. Jenifer
