Greetings to all!!! My name is Silvia! I am just beginning my journey. I'm not sure how far I will get. Here are my stats......I am 5' 0" and weigh in at 195lbs. I have been fighting with high blood pressure for at least 8 years now. And last year I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my foot. The arthritis is so bad that the joint is completely worn out and needs to be fused. The pain in my foot leaves me unable to excercise. I also have arthritis in my lower back. I have been battling with a weight problem since childhood. I am the chronic "yo-yo dieter". So I have decided to try to get the Lap Band System. I have an appointment with my primary care physicain on Monday morning. And I have Aetna Select PLan for insurance. I am very, very worried that my doctor is going to tell me that I don't weigh enough for this procedure. My BMI fluctuates between 35 and 40. Right now I'm at about 37. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what to expect at my appointment on Monday? Any and all advice appreciated!!! Tired of Fighting

I did all the steps.  Everything was documented and now I am being DENIED.  I can't believe it.  I have a BMI of 35 with 2 major comorbitites sleep apnea which i use a CPAP machine for and hypertension which I have been on meds for almost a year now.  I have failed diet histories that were documented.  The doctor I have chosen is the perferred doctor in my insurance group.  My doctor has dealt with my insurance the most and says it is the easiest to deal with.  I am going to appeal it.   In disbelief right now..... kelly

Unfortunately I just received my denial letter.  MY BMI is 37.8 and I was denied.  My co-morbidities are stress incontinence, joint pain in my knees and back.  My PCP also treats my mom and she has diabetes, arthritis and high blood pressure; ......so I also have a family history of ailments due to obesity.  I am so bummed out right now and about to start the appeal process.  I wish you more luck than I had.

I have a BMI of 35 with 2 comorbities that including sleep apnea with use of CPAP and hypertension plus all the other other aches and pains and incontience and I was DENIED> I am so upset right now.  In my letter they state that I don't have what I just listed.  BUT I DO and it is in my chart.  I am so confused and just down right disgusted.  I have WHA and that is suppose to be one of the BEST insurances.  I would welcome any advice!!!!
