Scan documents on CD for insurance approval

I've read where some people submitted a CD of their scanned documents, in addition to the documents, they submit to insurance for approval.  They believe it speeds up the process because the insurance company would otherwise have to scan the documents themselves.  Does anyone here have any opinion or experience with this? I am two months away from submitting my request to insurance.  Have two months left on 6 month medically supervised diet.

I think it makes complete sence. I work for an insurance company So I know how backed up the scanner can get. Sorry I don't have any experience in it but It couldn't hurt.

Thank you Paul.  I am thinking I can have the scanning done at a Kinkos.  I'm also thinking of enclosing a picture of myself with the documentation.
