Medica- new employee
Hi all- I am new here. I have a few questions for anyone. I have medica for insurance through my employer, Is there a certain waiting period before someone is covered as a new hire??? I called medica and they will approve surgery if it is a medical necessity and if I go through a 6 month program with a nut. I am curious as to the cost of RNY after insurance has paid. Do most hospitals set up a payment plan?? What costs are involved?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome! You would have to ask your HR dept when you are fully covered by your insurance. Since this is elective surgery, there might be a waiting period. As far as what your insurance is asking of you -- medically necessary and 6 month supervised diet -- that is becoming more and more the standard with lots of insurance companies.
The cost after the surgery can vary from a few dollars to much more. It all depends on where you have it and if your surgeon and hospital is included in your plan. Other costs not covered can be the nutritionist, any diet needs for the six month program, blood work -- it all depends on your deductible and your insurance requirements.
Most places that offer WLS have seminars that you are required to attend before starting your journey. They also will answer all of your questions for you.
Good luck!
