Diet Pills

As I review all of the documentation that we will submit to Aetna this month, I notice that there is no mention of prescription diet pills in my 6 month pre-cert diet.  My pcp said in the very first month that she doesn't think diet pills are beneficial in the long term and does not prescribe them.  Of course this isn't in my chart that we even discussed it.  However, I do list several over-the-counter diet pills in the diet history I submitted to my pcp at the beginning of this journey.  Do you think this will have an effect on my approval?

I am not the best person to answer this because I am working to have my Aetna denial overturned but nowhere in the policy bulletin does it require that you try on be on any type of weight loss medication. So that should not cause any type of problem. Scott

It shouldn't.  Since your physician doesn't prescribe them, she obviously feels they are not appropriate for you, so the insurance company has nothing to really say about that.  They usually just want to see that the supervised diet prescribed by your phsyician was adhered to and that your PCP documented it appropriately.  I only lost 18 pounds on mine over 6 months and didn't have a problem getting approved.

Yes, I was reviewing their requirements and they don't require pills.  I've lost 42 over the last 6 months, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping my pcp documented enough.
