Question regarding exclusion for treatment of obesity...

This is for my sis in law. She has UHC. Her policy (according to her- I haven't read it) states that treatment for obesity is not covered. When she called them they (several times, several different reps) stated that unless it is for morbid obesity treatment is not covered. I believe her BMI is 41.3 Here is where everything is so far & we were just curious if anyone had any opinions on if she should expect an approval the first go around or an appeal battle. I am worried because of the fact that it says that treatment for obesity isn't covered and that the part about unless it is for morbid obesity has only been given to her verbally and not in writing. We are going through this together and she was 1 month ahead of me in this process and I feel bad for her since it seems like it is taking her so long to get an answer. They supposedly have until the 18th to make a decision although that is way longer than the original 30 days that she was told they had. Somehow, every time she talks to someone different she gets different dates as to when the office actually got the paperwork and how long they have to review it.

She found out yesterday that she was approved. Yippee...
