There is an article posted on this site at http://obesityhelp.com/content/chooseyourstrategy.html that references Anthem as an example of an insurance company with an exclusion clause that has an add-on policy for bariatric surgery. I have Anthem, but no one I have spoken to has any clue about this add-on policy. Does anyone know who wrote thie article or when it was written?

Thanks for the post, Paul! What I neglected to mention is that I am the employer.   I only have 2 people on our policy, but we are somehow part of a group plan through our Chamber of Commerce. I've called our agent, and he has not heard about this add-on.  That's why I was trying to find the writer, to see if they might be able to provide some additional info on the aspects of the Anthem add-on policy.

I'll try to find out where the sources came from for that article. In the meantime, you'll hear conflcting stories from employers and carriers as to who insists on exclusions and *****quests or offers riders.   The bottom line is you need to look at the policy that you have in effect and work with that.  Whether it's appealing, or getting your employer to add a rider.
