CIGNA OPEN ACCESS

I received a copy of a letter today from Cigna, addressed to doctors office saying they need clinical information to determing medical necessity and I guess I am confused, isn't that what the doctor's office sends in? Could it be they just have not received the paperwork from the doc's office?

It is typical of CIGNA. I was approved but they "didn't receive" the paperwork at least two times before that happened. Call you Dr. Get a copy of the entire package, and FEDEX it to CIGNA w/signature required. Then they can't say they didn't receive it.  Some Dr's don't do such a great job on the letter of medical necessity. If, after you review it, it isn't a compelling argument for surgery, give me a whistle and I will send you a copy of mine. You can prepare it for the Dr. -- that's what I did -- and provide it electronically in word format so it can be printed on the Dr's letterhead.

Well I sent my letter for reconsideration to Cigna on Monday, faxed it, 147 pages.  Called on Tuesday to see if they had received it they said no, called again on Wednesday they said no, so I refaxed all of it Wednesday night.  Called today and got a very nice lady on the phone who put me on hold and told me she would check.  She came back and said she had talked to them and they had received it and they were reviewing it.  I wonder how long it takes them to review it.  I am not getting my hopes up, but everything they said they were missing I had, so we will see.  FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So frustrated, keep calling Cigna and get a different answer every time I call.  I sent them the papers and they said they could only accept from surgeons office.  So surgeons office resent 147 pages of medical records and diet history, etc. Cigna called my medically supervised diet program and talked to the Nurse and requested the Nurse to fax a letter confirming some information.  That was done the day she talked to the Nurse at Cigna.  I called a week later they said they hadn't gotten it, so I had it refaxed and had a copy sent to me and I faxed it to them myself.  I waited 3 days and called and they still say they haven't gotten it, do I just keep faxing this document, or what should I do?
