hi: i have mn bc bs. at info meeting the ins coordinator said we'd need 5 years wt history of over 40 bmi.  i hated getting weighed by the doc so have no weight history for 2004. she says we have a shot in 2007 with 3 years of history. has anyone had experience with this? im trying not to get my hopes up.

Here is a link to BCBS of MN's policy on surgery for morbid obesity.  I don't know the exact plan you have, but you can sign up on their site and download a copy of the exact policy available to see if it differs from this one.  My advice is don't rely on the surgeon's office to tell you what you need to do..get a hard copy of your insurance policy and go by what they reqire.  Looks like you need only 2 years of history of mobid obesity, but may need to have one year of supervised weight loss in order to qualify.   If you sign up with your insurer on the web site....go to the "providers" section and then choose medical policies.  A list will come up and you can do a search for morbid obesity, which will give you the policy you need to look at in case this link doesn't work.  Good luck with everything. http://notes.bluecrossmn.com/web/medpolman.nsf/8178b1c14b1e9 b6b8525624f0062fe9f/d2dadc81f23f3c3b862567fb00815660?OpenDoc ument&Highlight=0,obesity
