Sometimes your insurance company, employer, union etc... have as part of the appeals process either a telphonic hearing or a hearing in person.  You should definately be part of that process. Here are a few tips. Write an outline or notes before the conference and review it.  Keep it with you so that if you get nervous or upset, you won't forget your key points. Outline suggestions: 1.   Your current medical condition, your medical history, BMI, height, weight, co-morbidities (all of them) 2.   Briefly go into your family history if applicable. 3.  Go into your diet history.   You know you have one, we all do.  If you have a specific monthly weigh in record, tell them, if not, tell them your history over the years with diets.   Tell them your history even if you also have recent diet records.   Tell them about every diet you've been on, the duration and the result. 4.   Explain why you picked this surgeon, why you want the procedure you've chosen, and that it is medically necessary.

5. Don't panic, don't beg, and don't give up.

This outline is wonderful and is what I had done for myself during the weekend to prepare for my call.  Happily, I was approved prior to the call and the call was cancelled.

Gary, this is wonderful information and I'm glad you posted this.

Thank you.

Lorraine
