Hello everyone, I was denied BPD/DS by my insurer BCBS PPO SC they list my surgery as investigational. I appealed this decision on my own, and was denied again for the same reason. I was ready to give in,accept the RNY that is covered by my insurance however,I feel like why should I have to settle? there is little  difference in cost, why are they paying for some i've seen many on the DS board with the same BCBS PPO SC but denying mine? I wrote Gary in hopes that he will be able to help me fight this case. I feel  sad, every day my health is  declining. I am only 25 years old my health problem is that of an middle age woman, I would like the opportunity to re-claim my life. Is there any hope that I will be able to to over turn the decision by BCBS SC?

I don't have BCBS but United.  They denied me, too.  I am going ahead with the surgery (lapband)  It will mean that my husband and I will have to really struggle for awhile fnancially but I can't afford NOT to do it.  It amazed me when the insurance company told me that they would cover me if I had heart attacks and strokes from high blood pressure, but not cover something that can save my life.  I am going to appeal.  I have a lawyer that is willing to work with it.  It just amazed me.   Don't just settle for something.  You have the right to do what is best for you Maggi

To everyone who is having problems with insurance I seriously would call Gary he was a life saver for me. I was denied for my lapband due to my BMI being under 40 but I had the medical conditions to go with it I did my own appeal and was denied. I then hired Gary and he got my approval in about one month or so. (I did pay a little more to have it done quickly but that was my choice) So I spent 900 dollars and it was a hell of alot cheaper then 20,000 is how I look at it. Gary knows what they are looking for he really is very helpful even if you don't hire him he will give you advise and let you know if you have a case or not he was great so don't hesitate to use Gary!!!!!
