Empire BCBS

Just wondering if anyone has experience with Empire BCBS?  I am beginning my journey into surgery and was wondering what I should expect from them.   Many thanks!

I am interested in knowing this too.  I may have a shot at a job where their medical coverage is Empire BCBS of NY and I am wondering.  I have wanted this surgery for a long time, but my current provider has an exclusion. Please let us know!  Good luck Barry! Chad

I don't have empire BCBS (never did either).... but I've done quite a bit of research over the last couple months in preparation for my appeal.... part of that was collecting the policies of other insurance companies to show their stance on my procedure... anyway... here is Empire BCBS's policy regarding surgical treatment of obesity.... http://www.empireblue.com/provider/noapplication/f2/s5/t9/pw_ad080419.pdf just a note..... this doesn't apply if your employer has excluded WLS coverage.

Sean, thanks for that very helpful information.  It gives me hope that I may be able to look into getting this more. If I were offered and accept this position it's a paycut.  But if the surgery is offered it is probably worth it in the long run.  It probably wouldn't sound right to ask, "So do you have an exclusion on WLS?" before I accept the job would it?  :) Chad
