Medically Supervised Diet - Aetna

Has anyone gotten Aetna HMO to approve them without completing the 6 month diet requirement? I have been to my PCP 4 (3 months of diet) and a nutritionist once. I'm just really axious to have the surgery and was thinking maybe that would be enough for them. I haven't lost a pound.

I am in my 4th month of Aetna's 6 month supervised diet.  It is very challenging to know that I have to suffer for another 2 months, but I have also lost 22 pounds during the 4 months, my clothes fit better, I have more energy, I can even feel my muscles through my clothes (under all the fat of course).  The pre-cert diet really sucks, but I’ve used this time to become the ultimate WLS researcher, get familiar with the different machines at the gym, made friends who have also had WLS, learning to stop eating when I’m no longer hungry (still a work in progress).  I take even more pride in my appearance, and it gives everyone else the chance to get used to the idea that I’m not going to be the jolly fat girl anymore. 

 

 

This is what I say today…tomorrow I will be cursing Aetna and everyone who has ever worked for them for this God-forsaken pre-cert diet.  The mood swings are incredible…but think about it…we’ve only got a few more months to go AND we can enjoy all of the good holiday food that the post ops can’t
