Quick Approval!

Hello - I am new here - there is a lot of information in these boards! I have BS of Calif HMO - I applied approx. 4 weeks ago for lap band surgery and it was denied - BS said they don't approve "alternative" surgeries like the lap band. So I thought about it a lot and asked  my primary care doctor to resubmit for the gastric bypass. We included in the request the last 3 yrs or so documentation of other weight loss attempts (Weigh****chers, Phen Pro, etc) Anyway I just found out yesterday the surgery is approved pending my pysch evaluation! After everything I have read on these boards it almost seems to easy..... do you think I am missing something?

It was easier than mine (BCBS of Alabama), but from what I've seen on these boards is appears that BS of CA does not require the 6 month supervised diet I had to do.  But I have to say that once I was done and submitted my paperwork, I was approved in about 12 days.  My policy was clear that LapBand was not covered, so I didn't even try for that...also I didn't think that the LapBand was the right surgery for me.  I'll be having my surgery on 10/23....good luck with getting yours scheduled soon.
