BCBS of NC medical review

Anybody know the results of the medical review for bcbs of nc? They were supposed to be meeting in Aug. 2006 to review their policies. Anyone know if they are going to cover lapband? Let me know. Steve

Steve: I checked the online policy and it appears they have not updated it, as it still indicates the next review will be 8/06.  Either they didn't review it or they didn't post the new policy, if there is one.  You might try calling and indicating that you are trying to find the most current policy on surgery for morbid obesity and find out if it has been updated since 8/06.  That's all I can think of for you to do right now. Thanks Angela, I think you are right. I have this denial being challenged by Gary Viscio. Hopefully something good will FINALLY happen. Steve

No change yet with them.  I think the first of the year they may go with it for new policies. 

What about my appeal? Are you telling me that I will have to wait until the 1st of the year? Steve T
