I work for GW and it's up to your employer if they have it to be covered in your policy or an exclusion, GW administers the policy for your employer.  I see this surgery approved all the time, but if your employer excludes it in the policy then your SOL.  Who is your employer?

HI,   I just would like to tell you that I have Great West Healthcare PPO thru my husbands employer here in MI.  I had a great experience working with this Ins. Co.  They approved my gastric bypass in Jan 28, 2004.  They also approved a full abdominalplasty, inner thigh lift,  which I had done in April 26, 2006, and now I am going to be having a Brachioplasty in Dec 20, 2006 which they all covered. You just need to meet there reqirements I had no health problems  but my  BMI was 43.  I would just like to mention I did have 6 months worth of documentation of rashes from hanging skin.  But still this Ins. Co. did not give me any problems.  You just need to ask what they require of you, it does take effort and patience on your part.  But it is all worht it in the end.    Yes I believe you have a good chance.  Good Luck!                                                    Kristina S.

Yes,  they did require a six month supervised diet by my PCP.  They took about 2 weeks to approve it.   I hope this helps.                                                               Kristina.
