Anyone have BCBS of MI???

My problem is this.....my surgeon's office will NOT do the surgery without pre-authorization from the Insurance company.   BCBS of MI does not require pre-authorization.  The ins rep's that I've spoken to have told me that I am covered as long as their pre-requisites are met (and they are).   My surgeon's office has sent in all the paperwork requesting a pre-auth number, however, it has been almost 6 wks and still no response. Has anyone had this problem and overcome it and actually get a pre-authorization from BCBS?  Please help aleviate my stress!  Thank you

I do not think this will help, but I was told as of 1/1/06 BCBS will not longer give pre-authorization for this procedure. If everything is there you just have to do the surgery and send in everything. Maybe check into somewhere else doing the surgery! Becky
