6 or 12 month diet myths and facts

Do you know what will prevent you from getting approved, fact or fiction?

I"m not quite sure if this is what you're lookin for but as far as my insurance goes :   FACT:  my policy (Highmark BC/BS) states that I have to have a minimum of 6 months of Dr. supervised diet and nutrition.  This cannot be 6 months of Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig.  This has to be a multidisciplinary approach with documentation of my weight and discusion of both diet and excercise at each session.  Without this, they will not approve my Lap Band surgery.   NOTE:  I was 1st denied based on non compliance of this policy and was still denied upon appeal even though I had completed the recommended course of action but not because of the nutritiion but because they consider RNY to be Gold Standard and Lap to be experimental/investigative.   Gina Breen

Theyll pay if you push them.  The experimental language is old.  The band is appproved and they just want you to walk away.  File your appeal and a complaint with the insurance department
