BCBS CB PPO Enrollment Question

The company my husband works for is changing to BCBS Comunity Blue PPO insurance company Sept. 1st. He spoke face to face to an ins. rep about coverage for GBS and the rep said it is covered. But hubby didn't ask much of anything else. Does anyone know if BCBS Comunity Blue PPO insurance requires a waiting time for GBS RNY surgery after enrolling? Example; must have coverage for 12 months before submitting for surgery coverage. Thanks, Cynthia

Cynthia, I think it may depend on whether or not you have had insurance prior to. Most insurance companies have to cover whatever comes their way as long as you have "had insurance coverage for 12 consective months" prior to being on their plan. But you can call the insurance company directy and ask them. Right now i have BCBS of IL and its not covered through my employer, but my fiances ins now covers domestic partner and its covered so i am switching to BCBS of AL and its covered. But i did ask about preexisting and all that, but since i currently have ins, there is no waiting period. Hope that helps Jody

Yes, my husband has had insurance through the company he works for, for 14 years, it's been the same till now. They are switching Sept 1st. I guess I'll know for sure then. Thanks for responding Cynthia
