I started my WLS process back in November of 05, firts denial came in Jan 06 stating I had to switch doctors. Starting my program over again in Jan 06 recieved Denial again stating not enough documentation. I hate Aetna insurance I they are putting me through hell to get the surgery that will change my life for the better. Someone please tell me what frame of mind to be in-I'm so depressed after recieving this last denial. Need words of encouragement. Aetna stinks to high-hell.!!!!. But I'm not going to give up I will keep sumbit another appeal and also in September when my insurance change I will Change to United Health Care. And have my information resubmitted to them.

I had the same problem with paper work. Get your written denial letter and call if necessary to ensure you know what you are missing. Ask for the Pre Cert department to claify what is missing. The get that missing paperwork. Your surgeons office should be able to help with this. Jim Randall

Thanks Jim, I am in Neweigh Program in Houston and my couselor is very upset she said that this should not have happen, Aetna is approving some with less documentation than me and rejectiing mine. I have been in Prepartory program over 6 months taken all the test went to all required meeting and still no approval yet. I'll keep the faith try not to focus on it so hard and pray for approval on level 2 appeal.

Edith, You only have so many appeals. I believe UHC will be easier though and will accept what you have done already so it should be pretty easy. But I still think you should appeal Aetna. I would be happy to help having gone through this myself with very similar cir****tances. Please tell me what paperwork they say you are missing and maybe I can help with the appeal letter. If you are not sure call the Pre-Certification department and ask them to tell you. Ask for a supervisor in that department. The person that answers will try to answer and be relucktant to pass you on to a supervisor. Briefly explain the situation but still (nicely) demand to talk to a supervisor and do not take no for an answer. Just ask them to clarify what you are missing but get that from the supervisor. Then, if you want to, tell me what they say. Jim Randall
