Is it possible....

Hi All, Is it possible for my insurance to cover Gastric & VBG but NOT Lap Band?? Has anyone ever heard of this? I need advise...I've been trying since March to get approved for Lap Band and suddenly I am told BCBS doesn't cover it under my policy. It just seems to me, if the cover these 2 they would cover Lap Band?? Any suggestions? Thanks! AC

HI, I just found out my employer has blue cross blue shield ppo elect and they do cover gastric and not lap band. I'm not an insurance expert by any means but from what I have heard lap band requires follow ups and adjustments that most insurances don't want to deal with. Gastric after then initial healing and just your basic check ups you won't really have to commit to constant adjustments. I hope you get the proceedure you want good luck! M

I have BCBS Federal Employee Plan which covers gastric bypass but does not cover the band. Kathy

BCBS/AL does not cover LAPBAND either, but they do cover RNY
