Gary, can you help me?
Gary,
I have been denied due to a stated exclusion to weight loss surgery for morbid obesity. I am in the appeals process, but went to your website and found some interesting information. I live in Ohio, so I went to the state board of insurance website. I found under the morbid obesity laws section a bill that was passed in 2004, I believe. It said that any public employee's benefits should offer bariatric surgery. I am a public employee. I work for Medical Univerisity of Ohio and pay retirement to PERS or public employee retirement system. Does this mean that my employer should be offering this benefit? If so, what can I do to solve this problem. Oh, and FYI, my hospital that I work for just signed a new contract with our insurance provider that was effective July 1, 2006. I was reading that the above bill said that any new insurance or modified plan. Ours was just modified. Can you help me?
