Appeal 12 month diet?

Does anyone know if it is possible to appeal the 12 month physcian supervised diet? I have been on many diets, but none supervised by a physcian. Can I somehow get any of these to count? Insurance is Anthem PPO Shari

First be positive of the requirements and any alternatives. Aetna offers a six month and three month plan so be sure your plan does not have alternatives as well. Get a copy of the policy or clinical bulletin that documents exactly what the requirements are. Do not take the word of someone over the phone. If they do in fact requrei the 12 months you will almost certainly have to complete this. A total guess on my part but if you had already completed a program of say 9 or 10 months you might be able to talk them into that but definately not when you are just starting on a supervised plan. I started down this road seven months ago and just found out today that the medical director at Aetna has my file and I should be hearing back shortly and I only had a three month diet requirement so I would suggest getting started right away and it will go by quickly as there is plenty of other requirements to fufill like getting you medical history together etc., which is probably required as well.
