How Old Can Supervised Diet Be?

I'm looking into a revision from my Lap-Band... and my insurance company wants 6 months of medically supervised dieting. I was wondering how old this info could be... do they require it to be within the past year?

I'm sure it varies depending on the insurance plan, but I think that some companies actually accept it even if it's within TWO years. (Again, I'm not sure about that, so don't get your hopes up...I could be totally wrong...I'm going off of something that I vaguely remember reading somewhere.) If that's the case, you should be fine....so check with your policy. I think companies tend to be more strict about insisting on the FULL 6 months and not quite as strict about how long ago it was. Even if you're not sure-- it's worth a try. Out of curiosity (since I'm still in the trying-to-decide phase)...what type of revision are you thinking about?

Correct. Normally it's within 2 years, though New York State allows you to show a history of failed diets over a period of years. Gary Viscio www.obesitylawyers.com rny 7/1/03 -165

Gary, do you have any info (link? quote? or just a reference #) regarding that? (as well as other related NY laws? I'm just starting the process, but my ins. co. hasn't been the most helpful over the phone (if that's any indication of how they'll treat my paperwork) Thanks
