Approval after direct appeal!

I cannot believe this! After being shot down for the past two years, and the last Customer Service Rep I spoke with at BCBS of Illinois turned me down, I asked that my case be sent directly to appeals. That was a couple of months ago. I pretty much forgot about them. I moved forward, paid a deposit and scheduled my surgery with a wonderful doctor in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for July 3rd. (Dr. Armando Joya) In today's mail comes a letter from BCBS of Illinois. Thinking it was another one of their sundry denial letters, I almost did not open it. Lo and behold, my surgery has been approved by an external peer reviewer! Can y'all believe this. I've been working on BCBS of Illinois since January 05 ~ and our other insurance the year before that. I see light at the end of the tunnel. The moral of this story is never give up! Thanks

Good for you and I'm happy they approved you Check with your husbands or your company who ever BCBS of IL is covered under and make sure they DO cover Gastric By Pass surgery as your not dealing an insurance company that has their act together. BCBS IL approved me after fighting them tooth and nail. They paid everything and then took back what they paid my surgeon claiming that my husbands Company did not cover Gastric by pass surgery but I was lucky and had a wonderful surgeon who made me a deal I could not turn down as he knew I had went through every look hole to get this surgery and needed it.
