Insurance Issue Update..
Good afternoon everyone.
I decided to call United Healthcare back this morning to speak to a supervisor in regards to my insurance issue.
I explained to the supervisor that whomever I spoke with on 042706 advised me that my doctor was an approved bariatric surgeon and that WLS was covered by my insurance. I told her that even when I called on Monday to confirmed that UHC had received my docs from the doctor office, I was told that it was covered. I then went on to explain that the reason why I called was to see if an approval had been made since it had been two weeks now.
The supervisor was able to look at the approval number and all of the pertinent notes on my account from the rep adivsing me who to go to for the weight loss surgery, the approval number for my psychological evaluation, and all of the physicians I saw prior to my docs being faxed to UHC for pre-determination. I even told the supervisor that I paid over $200 in copays & consultation for this, all because I was told it was under my policy.
The supervisor gave me an issue# and the address to file for an appeal to Texas. She said that they will pull my records and see all of the information which will justify that I was told that it was approved. She said what will happen is that they will call BellSouth get it approved due to this situation and then they will get back in touch with me soon.
