Newbie Insurance Question- BCBS- FED

Hi All- This is my first post. Well actually my second, but not quite sure if the first one made it to the message board. I recently inquired about the banding surgery and called my insurance company to find out if it will be covered. They said it isn't. I have seen some information on this website showing that after some letter writing the procedure was approved. Can someone please guide me in the right direction. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program- Standard PPO. What are the step I need to take to get this approved. Who do I need to write a letter to? I will be attending a seminar in San Antonio this month and would like to be prepared. Thanks for the help... Rita

Your surgeon is going to have to request the surgery and then you can appeal the denial, if you are denied. Beside that I would also make sure you see it in writing as on the phone you can get many different responses. Good luck Gary www.obesitylawyers.com
