Having trouble with portions. I am on a soft diet, I have a problem with managing what 3oz. is, like farina, oatmeal at breakfast. Eating yogurt at lunch the smallest is 6oz do you eat half or do you eat all of it. I am concerned about streching my pouch. Supper is just as bad if you have a 3oz peice of chicken can you have a little vegetable with it. I don't want mess this up. Jim

Hi Jim: My nutritionist said 1/2 cup of food, Iam soft also, per meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and 3 snacks. But all are different, don't you have a nutritionist you can call? Denise RNY Open 17 lbs Lost surgery Jan 24th

Hi Denise: Thank you for your reply. I was going to call the nutrionist I used for evaluation, but I don't know if it is an extra charge. I probably should call because I guess the weight loss is more important. I will keep my intake to a 1/2 cup per meal untill I can contact her. Thank you very much...Jim

We truly all have not only personal differences, but huge differences in what our surgeons and nut advise. I had my surgery December 7th and am still on 2 oz. portions at a time. The low carb yogurt I get is in 4 oz. containers and I eat half at a time. I bought some 4 oz. plastic containers for "leftovers". I do the same with cereal, split it and refridgerate the leftovers.

Hi I'm 5 weeks out. When I was on soft I told my doctor that I can eat 4 oz of yogurt or 4 oz of pudding. He told me that when you eat soft stuff like that it leaves your tummy faster that regular food that is why you can eat more of that stuff. He had no problem with me eating that amount. I was on liquid for 2 weeks soft for 2 week and now I'm on that ever my tummy can handle. But always think of protein first..... Hope this helps. I know that it seems like all doctors have a different way of doing things. Also remember that your little pouch is still healing and swollen. Just be careful. I can tell you that if you eat more than your tummy can handle it will come right back up... Good luck. Ellie
