I am 9 months post op. I have lost 121 lbs and started out at 312 with the roux-n-y. I can now eat a whole sandwich(with ham and cheese-one meal) and a childsize hamburger with ketchup(another meal). i am worried because I don't dump and I have always drank with my meals. I guess I have stretched my pouch back out. Is there anyone else out there that was able to eat this much at 9 months post op? I also only eat what my family eats and that is junk food like pizza( 1 slice), chicken nuggets( 2 to 3) , french fries ( about 15), spaghetti ( 1 cup) waffles (3/4 of one). I have never done what I am supposed to because I have never dumped. I am one that tests the waters to see if I can swim so to speak and NOW I don't know how to get back on track. I have never exercised so I have tons of hanging skin. Please help me to figure out how to get on track. Please respond asap

Ok Shannon Time to have the talk. It takes a lot to stretch your pouch. You could eat so little in the early stages because your pouch was swollen. Now that you are further out, your pouch has relaxed, and will stretch as you eat, but will go back to its little size. You know what you need to do. First and foremost, you need to stop drinking and eating. You are able to more because you are flushing your pouch out and not having the full feeling. You need to be finished eating within 7 to 8 minutes. If you feel like you need to drink and eat at the same time, water load (drink a bunch of water before you eat a meal) and then don't drink for an hour afterwards. The other thing is the junk food. Fast food is an easy out, but you and your family will be healthier for it if you stop going through the drive thrus and start making healthy meals and eating healthy snacks. I promise you will lose a taste for it. You need to eat more solid protein, this will make you feel full. Lastly get up and exercise! It will make you feel less hungry, ease your stress and help you tone up. Start with 30 minutes 3 times a week. You will be amazed with the energy you get. There is no easy answer to the life long battle of weight loss. Only you can make yourself get back on track. You need to use the tool you were given and make healthy choices and exercise. Cary

Hi SHannon, Need to go back to the basics! (LIKE ME!) I need to take my own advice. I am going to cut out all sugar and carbs. SO HARD TO DO!!! I mean i am going to eat fruit which has natural sugar but no more candy and crap like chips and cake and crap. I need to drink my protein drinks once again and eat a protein bar when I crave like crazy. I also buy smuckers natural peanut butter. its all natural and doenst have any added crap like sugar and bad oils. When I get real hungry or have those head hunger cravings I eat a teaspoon of that and it really does the trick. Its not what I wanted but it kills the craving! We have to remember that yeah... we fall off track and yeah we make bad choices but we can NEVER EVER EVER give up! we cant stay off track. Each day is a new day...one of my favorite quotes: "Courage doesn't always roar...sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying...'I will try again tomorrow'" Hang in there! and get back to the basics! how long does it take for you to eat a sandwich. i couldn't do those things at 9 months and at 1 year and 7months i can't eat those amounts in one sitting if i do it will take me at least 3 hours of work to eat the whole content of a sandwich. i don't dump either and eat junk food because it settles so easy in my stomach. and because i want to duh. real foods sits heavier. I am not good advice because you eat such a little amount and i do the same i don't feel bad i am not gaining any weight from it. just imagine how much of these things you would have ate a year ago compared to now. just try your best and don't go overboard we all need to exercise and take vitamins and drink water we all know this. don't beat yourself up you know what is best just i know what's best for me. i eat all those things we are human. but if i eat cake it is probably like a half of a playing card that is a piece a cake to me. i crave sweets more now than i ever have in my life. matter i fact i have loss like 8 lbs in the last month. and i don't exercise but i am more active than ever just living life. i think you'll be fine.

I have never taken long to eat since day one. I am finished my 5 or 6 bites in less than 10 minutes now. The longest it has taken me to eat ever would be 20 mins.

Hi All, I have not been on here for awhile and I really need to be! I have read all of your posts and boy do they all ring true to me too. I still try real hard to make good choices but have fallen back to making a lot of poor ones. I am 2 years 9 months out and have stabilized...i think...we got a new scale that reads high...have weighed myself at curves and found this to be true...whew, but....big bad BUT, I am now overeating again. I started at 335# and am now at 178#. I would like to weigh less but will not be unhappy if I stay put. I usually fell great, and know that I look a lot better too. I will start the liquid way today! It will work because I will make sure that it does...no I won't do dumb stuff, just stick to it. I owe me this! Thank God I read this TODAY ! I needed to know that I am not alone! Good Luck and my prayers are with you all... Beth
