Hi there....I'm 6 months post-op, down 108lbs...so far, doing pretty good. I have really avoided adding any carbs into the mix of what I am eating, but lately...I am craving salty chips, pretzels, popcorn - crunchy, salty stuff! I was wondering if any of you had an suggestions as to what is nutritionally better for me...tasty and salty. The few people I've met up with that are years out of this, say one thing they wish they had done was not introduced carbs so soon post-op. So that's always stuck with me....but now, I do find I am fighting the cravings. With my weight loss already over 100lbs, I think I'm winning...however, I am so terrified to give in to my cravings...for me, I fear, once I give in...I'm lost. Just hoping for some suggestions - something that has nutritional value!! Thank you all so much....I love this website...it's been a god-send! All of you have been so wonderful...what a blessing to be on this journey in the company of such great people. Thanks..Susan

When I'm craving salty and crunchy, I cut up strips of green pepper, slices of radishes and sticks of cucumber...dip them in icy water so they're really crisp - shake them lightly and sprinkle with salt. Sooo good! Or I will bake up some very thin slices of new red potato. Spray lightly with Pam, salt and bake at 350 until golden. Ok, not the BEST choice, but much better than greasy potato chips AND new red's have a lower glycemic reaction in the body, than do russets (which is what most chips are made from). Or I eat a low-carb tortilla, fried crisp on a non-stick pan and lighty salted. Or fry some cheese - naturally salty. Hope that helps and congrats on all you've achieved!
