I really want to check my pouch size, as I believe it is has stretched waaay too large (surg date 10/22/03). The only at-home way I know of doing this is the cottage cheese test. Does anyone know of an alternative to using cottage cheese? I HATE cottage cheese! Help!!

Hi, this is how I understood how to do this. Get cottage cheese. Measure out 1 cup. Start eating, and stop after 5 minutes. add water to what is left. Then measure off the amount of water. That's how many ounces your pouch can hold. Do this in the mmorning. I suppose you can use ricotta if you like. I did this at 6months out and measured 5 ounces.

I've been thinking about this very topic. What about using ricotta cheese? I like that better than cottage cheese. I don't think yogurt would be thick enough. Or would it? Or thicken it with some protein powder? Sue O.

Hi Amy, I haven't heard of an alternative test, but wondered what to do if the test indicates that your pouch has stretched too large? I feel that mine is far beyond the 4-6oz it it supposed to be. Is there any way to return it to its post op size?

Hi, I have heard that you can do the same test with oatmeal. I have not tried it as of yet. Good Luck, Tresea
