I know that I am not supposed to chew gum. However, I have been because it helps me fight the urge to snack. Last night I swollowed a piece. I freaked out. I tried to make myself vomit. All that did was make my throat sore. I have eaten twice now & I feel fine. Has anyone ever swollowed a piece of gum? Kellie

Why are we not supposed to chew sf gum? I can understand if you accidently swallow it..... My doctor or nutritionist never said anything about it.

My doctor stated no chewing gum because if you swallow it and can block the hole from your stomache/pouch that goes into your intestine. I used to chew gum all the time, I havent dared to since I have had the surgery

My doc said also that when you chew gum, you introduce a lot of air into the pouch, stretching it. Don't do it, its not worth the risk. Just my 2 cents.... Mark
