Crystal Light Slurpees are NOT light!

I just discovered by accident that Crystal Light Slurpees are NOT a low calorie drink as one would suspect.  Some friends said, "Hey, let's get Slurpees!"  I got excited, as 7 Eleven offer Crystal Light -- thinking that the stuff I use at home is 4 calories a serving - a HUGE Slurpee is probably 40 calories.

         I WAS SO WRONG!!!!

Barqs Rootbeer Flavored Slurpee - tastey, but I wanted to be good -- 66 calories for 8 oz
Crystal Light Peach Mango Slurpee - 60 calories for 12 oz - but I got a huge one, so still doing the math!

I am really curious where did all the calories come from???  I will be working on my own Crystal Light ice drink at home - with the CORRECT number of low calories!

I have been loving "icy" drinks since surgery. I found that the raspberry flavored green tea crystal light freezes really nice. Just make it as usual and pop it in the freezer. Once in awhile go in and give it a good shake. Do that a few times until it gets to the consistency you want. Mine is usually like a slushie after about an hour and 15 min. and about 3 good shakes.

Yep - I looked them up too.  Average of 5 calories per OUNCE.  When you get the 32oz or 44oz slurpee - well you can do the math...

When I had my first one I felt kinda yukky.  I think there are sugar alcohols in them, and I'm sensitive to them.  I'm not sure how they would contribute to the calories, but I don't think they list everything that is in the CL slurpee.

I still get them, but only if I count the calories in my totals for the day.  And now I get the smaller ones....
