This past weekend I realized I eat to have something in my mouth so I dont say what I am thinking.   Even though what Im thinking might or might not need to be said, I dont want to upset or hurt anyone with my words.  Now what?

This sounds like the story of my life.  I have been a food addict--refined white carbs, sugar, and junk food--for about 40 years.  I've had periods of remission.  It's hard because I am also manic-depressive and tend to use that condition as an excuse to allow me to eat those foods.

If you are not eating excessively on a regular basis--snacking that is-- only you can decide whether having something in your mouth can prevent the upsetting words.  Do you need a coping strategy other than food?  Or, would you be better off finding alternative foods to eat when you are tempted to speak your mind.  Some people can munch on carrot sticks or other raw veggies.  You may want to have an easy protein source such as low fat mozarella string cheese or Lite Baby Bell cheese.  With either of these, you spend some time unwrapping them -- fiddling around with your fingers-- as well as eating them.  I mention them because they give you some sense of actually eating something and defer you from more troubling foods.  You can have some fruit, but you have to be more careful with it.  Generally, berries and grapes are good choices among fruit.  Do not have dried versions such as raisins since they have way too many calories and are almost like candy.

I've been on a munching binge lately. I've been sucking on SF hard candy, chewing tons of gum, and sipping on decaf ice coffees. I don't know why, but my inner muncher is on a terror right now.

It'll not hurt anybody. It sounds something like thought, like a part of some novel. I could not got what actually mean.
