I know this is a late post, but I have not been on this board before. I don't know about the 5 day pouch test, but I would always say that going back to basics will be the best thing.
Protein first, limit carbs to good carbs, Log everything you put in your mouth, weigh and measure, water, vitamins, and exercise, exercise and then exercise.
You have recognized a need, now you need to develop a plan you can measure and evaluate.
Good Luck!!

I am in a very similar situation. I had my surgery 8/1/07 and went from 238 to (currently) 170. I further complicate things with type 1 diabetes. I have no problem eating candy, chocolate, juice (for a low blood sugar), chips, crap, junk, you name it...STILL can't handle chicken breast, beef 2 days in a row, things like that. I wonder WHY I'm eating the wrong things? When I see my surgeon, he tells me I'm staying right around the same weight (it's been a few years now), but says I'm not down far enough as my BMI is still considered "obese". I guess I feel like a failure with the surgery. I think what I need to do for ME is make another appt with my shrink and see if I can't make some headway with this. I used to be an exercise junkie...now I could care less. NOT good...no motivation, too much trouble.
We are two peas in a pod. I used to be obsessed with lifting weights and eating right. That was four years ago. Now I could care less. (shame, too!) I am very lazy now in the excercise area. I think being there for each other is a GREAT idea!! We need all the help we can gather right now! Holidays will be here before we know it, too and I want to weight LESS not more! Got any ideas on this one? LOL..

I had my surgery in June 2007. I have been at the present weight (147) for the past year and a half, but haven't reached my goal of 135lbs. I read about the Dukan Diet and sent for the book from Amazon, Been doing it for a week and have lost 5 pounds!!! It is a great program and I have never felt hungry. When I do feel hungry, I can eat from the list of foods allowed.
The diet is somewhat similar to Atkins, but low fat. You can search it online. It is working for me!!!!
I just read you can't handle meat!!! Well, then, this diet is not for you. Hope you find something that works.
