ok all I had gastric bypass in april of 2006 and i have done very well and have maintained my weight for the most part even after having a baby. But lately all i want to do is eat eat eat and I am not finding that i am having a problem eating. I feel like i am gaining weight as we speak.. I dont want to go back down this road again, I have worked so hard to get to this spot. I am looking for advice and perhaps just venting because i am so upset with myself.. any words of wisdom would be greatly appreicated!

Hi Kari.  Its so ironic that I am responding to this post for several reasons.  First I am from Buffalo, NY and I am also struggling with eating or better yet to stop eating (smile)  I have gained weight over the last few months after I relocated to NC.  Its such a hard road to be on.  I am so disgusted but I am looking for support and to be of support for another person.  If you want you can contact me I will inbox my contact info and hopefully we can support one another.  I am wishing you success as we try to get back on track.

Veronica,

wow small world! Yes I would love the support and would like to help support you as well.. I was looking at your surgery date and it was 10/26/06 and mine was 4/26/06 so we are pretty close on those date as well. I am just so worried that I am going to end up right back where I started and I can not let myself get there...

I am so proud of you both for being successful for so long!  Now, take a deep breath and go back to basics.  No soda, no drinking 30 mins before, during or after a meal, protein first, throw out the junk food and simple carbs....you know what to do....AND EXERCISE!!  You are the idols we look to for long term success stories!

I have been having this problem about the 6 month mark after my surgery date.  first 6 months i lost 75 lbs, next 6 months i lost 6 lbs and felt like i could eat more and i was always hungry.  i spoke with my surgeons office and they were rude to me and refused to really address it with my surgeon so i made an appointment with my gen. practitioner and he wanted to tell me how to eat even though i was seeing the nutritinist from my bariatric surgeon, so I demanded an upper endoscopy thinking that i may have a diltated stoma.  What was found was an ulcer, my pouch is fine and so is the stoma but I am waiting for a biopsy and have started carafate for ulcers and feel less hungry after just two days of meds.  If you feel something is wrong, it is, dont let anyone persuade you off knowing your own body.

According to my doctor 1 in 5 RNU surgeries fail. Apparently the ds surgery is the 1 that they should be using for everybody. I feel like it was a way for them just to take money from me And my insurance. I still have had a problem lately With never being full. My doctor offered no help and instead insulted be my telling me I needed to go see a therapist. Cuz that's gonna magically make my stomach full. They act considerably kind before the surgery understanding that people who are overweight are discriminated against and the minute you have a problem all the discrimination comes back at your face! I truly believe after having weight loss surgery the first time that obesity truly is a disease and not what the heck I put my mouth!

Very interesting about listening to your body and discovering you have an ulcer. I really dislike hearing your surgeon's response. I believe some of these surgeons believe all their patients are just out of control people who have nothing going on physiologically when it comes to weight. Yes, part of this is what's going on in our head, but that doesn't mean physiology should be ignored either.

I am experiencing almost never feeling full after a meal and feel like I want to eat all the time. I've been under great stress due to my mother's cancer and her passing away on 6/29 along with some bad medical stuff going on personally. I do think some of it is emotional, but not all of it. Because of your message I am going to contact my surgeon too. At least a conversation with the nut might help.
