Dont know whats normal
I am having a hard time figuring out what I am supposed to be doing. I feel kinda lost. I know I am supposed to be eating but I always feel like I am eating too much. Today what I had was a tablespoon and 1/2 of chicken salad and 3 slices of cheese and I feel like maybe that is wrong. BUt I know I am supposed to eat. I think my body is going into starvation mode soon.
I just don't know where the happy medium is between eating and losing weight. I feel a lot of pressure to make this work but in turn I think I am hurting myself. I am ready for the weight to disappear.
At my 2 1/2 week post op I had lost 25 lbs. The Dr. said that was GREAT. At the support group after there was a lady who had my same surgery who had lost 28lbs at 6 weeks. So I felt like I was definitely doing good. I guess I am wondering what am I supposed to be losing. I will be 4 weeks out in 3 days. VSG

You are on track. You should bee averaging about 2 pounds a week right now.
I am not sure what you were told but you should make sure your getting 65-70 percent protein
20-40 percent in vegtables avoid fruit right now. This will help you loss.
Sample
B- Protein Shake or something with protein.
S- 1oz cheese 1 oz slice turkey
L- 1 oz meat Chicken, or Fish, 1 oz fat free cottage cheese, 1 oz vetables steamed
S- Protein Shake
D- 1 Oz Steak 1 slice cheese 1 oz salad fat free sprite dressing
S- 1/2-1 cup popcorn or protein bar.
I find that darn carb monster snicks up on me alot so be careful.
Remember you need to drink tha****er and exercise. I am 9 months out and have been finding myself getting back into bad habit so I need to get back on track. Good luck to you and follow doctors orders and you will be just fine. Just remember everyone loses at a diffrent pace.
Good luck Sherri

Thank you for your posts... they helped me as well. I am new to this website today, so still finding my way. I had surgery on 12/19/09. I track from my highest weight loss and have to date lost 58 lbs. (about 20 of that was pre-surgery, the rest post-surgery) I, too, have been struggling with what's "normal". My doctors say I'm doing fine, but it feels really slow to me.
I'm sort of worried that I'm failing the surgery because I don't have issues with any food, including sugar. The surgery does limit my quantities, but I've found I've slipped back into some very bad habits and am trying HARD to change them. I am walking/excersizing most every day. I'm really struggling staying away from sweets and carbs.
I need all the support I can get!!
