Hi, I had my surgery 4 months ago. I have had a stricture and an ulcer. I am having a really hard time getting protein in. Can not tolerate shakes/powders. Even most meats don't agree with me. It's like I think I gotta get protein in and my body reacts in horror and won't tolerate any of it!

I am loosing my hair really bad as well. I do know this is caused by the lack of protein. I try believe me I try to eat and get it in. Seems like most things I can tolerate are carby foods. I eat cheese, no milk, some lunch meats and yogurt. I could use more suggestions.

I actually feel like I am eating all the time and have struggled for the last month with 5 or 6 lbs going back and forth. I would really like to get back to losing more instead of the same few over and over again. I do walk about 2 miles every other day and I ride my exercise bike for 20 mins a couple of times a week. Otherwise I run after the kids and that has kept me pretty busy. ( I am happy to do this cause before my surgery I always made my husband do it...I didn't have the energy).

Suggestions on calorie/sugar/carb intake would be great and every idea for protein you can think of lol.
Thank you all so much.

GNC Isopure koolaide like, but a bit sour.  A whole bottle is 40g.  If you mix it with icewater it is tolerable.  Otherwise, there are Proteinshots I got at Walmart.  They are 26g.  They are kind of thick and taste horrible, but you can drink them fast because they are small.  Good Luck

Thanks, tried Isopure, they made me sick.. Don't know if I could do the others either. The thicker the worse I get. Doing Adkins protein bars once in awhile. They are very sweet and rich to me. Otherwise I keep trying different things. And like they said tastes change as you go along so maybe something will taste good to me eventually.

you can mix the protein shots into a box of sugar free jello. It sets up like normal- just use a ;ittle less water.

I found Syntrax Nectar to be the best protein drinks to get down.  They are more juice like than the others.  I personally love the Kiwi/Strawberry, Roadside Lemonade, and Pink Grapefruit.  I've been able to regularly get in the 3 drinks a day my Dr requires (which is 1 1/2 scoops to make them just over 40gms each).  You can find them at www.vitalady.com or www.mybariatricpantry.com (for the best prices I've been able to find anyhow).  The best part about both the sites is you can order samples so you arent stuck with a whole tub you can't stomach.
